In a small saucepan add sugar, Karo syrup and water. Stir together.
Over medium heat, bring mixture to a boil.
Stir in red food coloring.
Continue to boil, stirring occasionally, until a candy thermometer reaches 300 degrees (hard crack stage). Roughly 10-12 minutes.
Remove from heat. Stir a few times.
Dip the top of the glass into the mixture and rotate the glass until the rim is covered. Be careful not to burn yourself!
Cover the rim as desired. You can lightly coat the top, or liberally coat. Your choice! Let the coating drip off the glass for more bloody gore. Be creative.
Add your desired beverage and enjoy!
