Rinse and dry the asparagus. Use your fingers to snap off the woody ends.
Lay the asparagus on a baking sheet. Add olive oil, salt and pepper to asparagus and toss to coat.
Warm the grill to low heat or indirect cooking.
Make sure you clean the grates before you cook your asparagus. Place asparagus on the grill, perpendicular to the grates, making sure that they are spread out.
Cook for 10-12 minutes, turning 3-4 times. Asparagus is done when they are nicely charred and fork tender.
Remove from the grill and sprinkle on paremesan cheese to taste.
