Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 cup salted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Using a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, beat the butter and vegetable shortening
  • Add granulated sugar and beat
  • Add packed brown sugar and beat
  • Pour in vanilla and beat
  • Drop in eggs, one at a time, beating after each, wipe down sides
  • Put all dry ingredients together (flour, baking soda, salt) and add to mixing bowl, beat until combined
  • Stir in chocolate chips
  • Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop scoops onto cookie sheet 3 inches apart
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes
  • Let cool for 1-2 minutes on cookie sheet before moving to wire rack
  • Cool completely
