Equipment

  • 1 8x8 inch pan

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil Mazola
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup hot tap water

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In an ungreased 8x8 pan, mix together four, sugar, baking powder, salt and cocoa powder (2 tbsp).
  • Add vegetable oil, pure vanilla extract and milk and mix together until smooth. Spread evenly in the pan.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar and (1/4 cup) cocoa powder over the batter.
  • Pour hot water over the top evenly. Do not mix after you pour the water over the top.
  • Bake for 35 minutes or until the top is dry.
  • Cool for 10 minutes.
  • Spoon cake into bowls while still warm. Top with vanilla or your favorite ice cream. Spoon some of the hot fudge from the dish over the ice cream.
  • Top with whipped cream and a cherry if desired.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

Looking to feed a larger crowd?  Double the recipe and put in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
