Salted Caramel Pretzel Bites

Ingredients
  

  • 96 pretzel snaps
  • 24 caramels 11 oz bag, Kraft, cut in half lengthwise
  • 1 package Dolci Frutta melting wafers 8 oz package
  • holiday nonpareils to sprinkle on the top
  • coarse salt if desired, to sprinkle on the top

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 250°F.
  • Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Unwrap caramels. Cut caramels in half lengthwise.
  • Lay out 48 pretzel snaps onto the parchment paper. Place one caramel half onto each pretzel snap.
  • Place baking sheet into the oven for 8 minutes until the caramels are soft. Remove from oven.
  • Place another pretzel snap on top of each softened caramel, gently pressing down, making sandwiches.
  • Microwave Dolci Frutta melting wafers according to package directions. If chocolate is thick, add 1-2 tsp of vegetable shortening to thin it out.
  • Dip each pretzel sandwich into the chocolate leaving about a corner uncovered.
  • Place chocolate covered pretzel bites back down onto the parchment paper.
  • Sprinkle on holiday nonpareils and add coarse salt if desired for an enhanced salty & sweet treat.
  • Allow pretzel bites to set. To speed up the process, place them in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  • Arrange in a bowl, tin or on cookie platters.
  • Serve and enjoy!
