Simple Homemade Mac & Cheese

This Simple Homemade Mac & Cheese has only 7 ingredients but packs a lot of creamy, cheesy, delicious flavor. Great as a main or as a side to your favorite dish.

  • Large casserole dish
  • Large 6-quart sized pot
  • Large saute pan

Ingredients
  

  • 16 oz elbow macaroni
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper
  • 4 cups extra sharp cheddar cheese Cracker Barrel

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a large quart sized pan, cook elbow macaroni according to the package directions. Drain. Add one tbsp of butter to the cooked pasta and mix together. Put the macaroni into a large casserole dish.
  • In a large sauté pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • In a mixing bowl, add flour. Whisk a cup of milk with the flour. Keep whisking and add the remainder of the milk.
  • Pour mixture into the sauté pan. Add salt and pepper.
  • Over medium heat, melt the cheddar cheese, stirring constantly, until thick and creamy.
  • Pour cheese mixture over the cooked pasta and mix together.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until bubbling.
  • Serve and enjoy!
