This Cherry Dump Cake tastes just like a cherry clobber but is much easier to make! Just a few simple ingredients that you dump then bake!
This recipe uses just six simple ingredients! Cherry pie filling, almond and vanilla extracts, a box of white cake mix, melted butter, and dark brown sugar. As the title of this recipe says, just “dump” those ingredients into your baking dish and bake. Yes, it’s that easy! This Cherry Dump Cake is so delicious and the cake crust turns into a caramelized, crispy texture that elevates this simple cake.
What I Love about this Cherry Dump Cake Recipe
The best thing about this Cherry Dump Cake is that it’s so quick and easy to make! There’s also no mixing bowl required, so no need to dirty up any other dishes. Just dump your ingredients into your baking dish and bake. Another great thing is about this recipe is that you can use any pie filling you like. Don’t like cherries? Then substitute blueberry, apple or strawberry pie filling instead. In addition, you can really customize the flavor by changing out the cake mix too. Use a yellow, strawberry, or chocolate cake mix instead of white and see what filling and mixes work best for you. Still want to add more flavor and texture? Then add in extra toppings like: chocolate chips, sprinkles, and nuts (pecans, walnuts, almonds, etc). The possibilities are endless!
Can this Cherry Dump Cake be made in a slow cooker?
Absolutely! Just follow the instructions and dump all the ingredients into your slow cooker instead of the baking dish. Cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours.
What cherry pie filling should I use?
To be honest, I haven’t found very much difference between store and name brand fillings. Use a pie filling that can be easily found at your local grocery store. In addition, pie filling can also be purchased at Target, Walmart and on Amazon.
