Who doesn’t love a chocolate brownie sundae? This classic and timeless desert is an all time favorite. Whether you are using a boxed brownie mix or homemade brownies for that extra special touch, brownie sundaes are the perfect ending to any meal!
Remembering back to when I was a kid, my friends and I loved going to Friendly’s. After hanging out at the mall, pigging out on pizza and shopping at Spencer’s Gifts, we loved finishing out our trip by eating a Brownie Sundae at Friendly’s. Double dip, chocolate chip with sprinkles on the top! My all time favorite! To this day, I still love Friendly’s chocolate chip ice cream! Just ask my kids, it’s always Friendly’s chocolate chip.
But occasionally, I would dip into uncharted waters and indulge in a huge chocolate fudge brownie sundae. Every now and then, a brownie sundae just speaks to me. Huge scoops of vanilla ice cream, smothered in hot fudge, placed on a warm brownie and topped off with a maraschino cherry. In other words, “Mmm, mmm, good!”
I definitely have my favorite go-to box brownies, but occasionally I will make them from scratch. Especially when I am going through extreme chocolate withdrawal. These babies will snap you out of that withdraw and bring you back to life. They are packed full of chocolate! Did I say chocolate? That could be an understatement!
How to make a brownie sundae
- Make your favorite brownies, let cool, and cut into squares.
- Place your brownie on the bottom of your favorite dish. You could use a classic sundae dish but I like to use a large, wide bowl so that I have plenty of room.
- Add two or three large scoops of your favorite ice cream. I go traditional here and do vanilla.
- Smother with your favorite toppings: hot fudge, chocolate sauce, marshmallow topping. (Smucker’s Marshmallow Topping, period!)
- Add chocolate chips, sprinkles, nuts, don’t forget the whipped cream and the maraschino cherry for the tippy top!
- Dig in and enjoy!!
