Too good to be true! This Easy Beer Bread takes 5 minutes to whip up and about 45 minutes to bake. Who knew homemade bread could be so easy and delicious!
The other day I was looking thru my mom’s recipes for my Nana’s homemade raisin bread and I stumbled across this Easy Beer Bread recipe. Even though my mom doesn’t ever recall making this bread, I thought I’d give it a try. Homemade bread that only takes minutes to whip up with no kneading? Now this is what I am taking about!
Who knew that homemade bread could be this easy! I sure didn’t! Only four ingredients too! Self-rising flour, one 12 ounce bottle of beer, sugar and butter! Put all the ingredients in a bowl, mix and put into a greased bread pan.
Forty-five minutes later, I was eager to try this bread! It was delicious! Actually, I liked it even better slightly toasted. So, if you are short on time and need a super easy bread recipe that will go with any dish, then this easy beer bread is a must!
What does beer bread taste like?
Beer bread is hearty, buttery, and takes on the flavor of the beer you use. The yeast in the beer interacts with the sugar to help the bread rise.
What kind of beer should I use in beer bread?
If you want to subtle beer flavor in your bread, then use a light beer, such as Miller’s Lite, Bud Light, Coors Lite or Michelob Ultra. I used Samuel Adams Summer Ale in my bread. This medium body seasonal beer found mostly in summer uses malted wheat, lemon zest and Grains of Paradise, a rare pepper from Africa, resulting in a crisp taste and spicy flavor. For bold beer flavors, try Guinness. Guinness has a malty sweetness and a hoppy bitterness, with notes of coffee and chocolate. Its palate is smooth, creamy, and balanced. In addition, you can also make this bread with fall seasonal brews making loaves with pumpkin ale or hard cider. Each giving your loaf a unique flavor! Try your favorite beer to give your bread that desired flavor!
