We all have heard that nuts are good for you but here are a few key reasons why.
Nutritional Facts
Adding nuts to your diet may be good for your heart. Nuts are packed with good fats, protein and fiber. They are easy to grab on the go thus making them a healthy snack. Nuts contain many of the following that are believed to keep you and your heart healthy!
- Unsaturated fats. Although it is debated, many health experts believe the “good” fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats) in nuts lower bad cholesterol levels in your blood.
- Fiber. Nuts are loaded with fiber. Fiber helps to lower cholesterol by keeping your digestive track clean and healthy, thus flushing cholesterol and other carcinogens out of your body.
- Vitamin E. Vitamin E is believed to stop plaque development in the arteries. Keeping the arteries clear of plaque buildup decreases heart attacks and other heart related diseases.
- Omega-3 fatty acids. Nuts are high in Omega-3 fatty acids that are believed to help your heart by preventing arrhythmia that can lead to heart attacks.
In addition to these great nutritional benefits of nuts, nuts are just plain good. They are a yummy snack and make a great addition to your salad by adding that needed texture and crunch!
Are you ready to whip up a batch in about 5 minutes? Then let’s get started…
