I love making dessert for my family. However, sometimes I need an easy dessert that I can whip up quickly. This Easy Hot Fudge Sundae Cake is the answer. It’s sure to please everyone in the family. In addition, it’s so easy, the kids can make it all by themselves! Just combine all the ingredients in an 8×8 dish and as it bakes it will form a rich gooey layer of hot fudge on the bottom of the dish, topped off with a delicious chocolate cake on the top. While warm, spoon out the cake into a bowl and serve it with vanilla or your favorite ice cream. Top with whipped cream and a cherry if desired!

Easy Hot Fudge Sundae Cake-Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil Mazola
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup hot tap water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In an ungreased 8×8 pan, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cocoa powder (2 tbsp).
- Add vegetable oil, pure vanilla extract and milk and mix together until smooth. Spread evenly in the pan.
- Sprinkle brown sugar and (1/4 cup) cocoa powder over the batter.
- Pour hot water over the top evenly. Do not mix after you pour the water over the top.
- Bake for 35 minutes or until the top is dry.
- Cool for 10 minutes.
- Spoon cake into bowls while still warm. Top with vanilla or your favorite ice cream. Spoon some of the hot fudge from the dish over the ice cream.
- Top with whipped cream and a cherry if desired.
