French Toast

French Toast is a classic breakfast that has been around for many years and is one of my all time favorites. Simple, elegant and delicious!

Equipment

  • skillet, non-stick pan or griddle
  • shallow mixing bowl

Ingredients
  

  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • pinch of salt
  • 1-2 tbsp butter for cooking

Instructions
 

  • In a shallow bowl, combine eggs, milk, pure vanilla extract, cinnamon and salt. Whisk until well blended and creamy.
  • Dip bread slices in custard, let them soak for about 5 seconds on each side, then flip and repeat.
  • Heat a skillet or non-stick pan over medium heat and melt butter. Add bread and cook 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Flip and repeat.
  • If desired golden brown color is not reached, flip again and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes per side.
  • Remove from skillet and plate. Top with powdered sugar, butter, syrup, whipped cream and/or fruit if desired.
  • Serve immediately.
  • Enjoy!
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for 1-2 days. Reheat in the microwave, toaster or oven.
