Sliced apples, apple cider, apples and apple cider mimosas in champagne glasses garnished with maple syrup and cinnamon sugar topping and an apple slice

These Apple Cider Mimosas are made with just two simple ingredients. Apple cider and your favorite bubbly. I love Prosecco and had a small bottle in my wine cellar, so that’s what I used for this mimosa. However, feel free to use your favorite champagne or sparkling wine. In addition, if you are looking for a non-alcoholic version then you can use sparkling white grape juice instead.

There’s something classy about mimosas and serving them elevates any party or celebration. These Apple Cider Mimosas are perfect for a fall wedding, bridal shower, baby shower or any fall celebration. Since Thanksgiving is just around the corner pour yourself one as you prepare dinner and wait for your guests to arrive.

The History of the Mimosa Cocktail

The truth behind who created the mimosa is pretty much a mystery. However, after trying to figure out who to give credit to this easy and delicious cocktail, here’s what I found out…

Many agree that the mimosa is a variation of the much loved Buck’s Fizz cocktail that was invented in 1921 in London. This cocktail combined one part orange juice with two parts champagne. Traditional mimosas combine one part orange juice with one part champagne. Regardless of ratios, it’s believed that this drink was created to give men the excuse to drink before lunchtime.

However, some believe the credit goes to Frank Meier at the Ritz Hotel in Paris. He is credited with creating the mimosa in 1925 as he recorded the recipe in his book The Artistry of Mixing Drinks.

Lastly, in 1940 Alfred Hitchcock tried to take credit for creating this cocktail. There’s no reason to believe this, however, he did help to promote the drink and make it what it is today. A popular staple served at brunches.

So with just a few weeks until Thanksgiving, I encourage you to get some fresh apple cider and a bottle of your favorite bubbly and start your celebration off in style. You’ll thank me before you take your first sip! Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving!

Tips on how to make the best Apple Cider Mimosas

Use cold ingredients: make sure that both the apple cider and your favorite bubbly is refrigerated and completely chilled. This makes for a much tastier mimosa.

Serve in champagne glasses: the taste of champagne is greatly affected by the shape of the glass. Yes, there’s a reason glasses come in all shapes and sizes. Champagne glasses are designed to retain the bubbles so serve the cocktail in one.

Garnish the rim: Dip the rim of the glass in your favorite maple syrup and then dip the rim directly into a cinnamon sugar mixture. It’s a great way to hold that cinnamon sugar mixture to your rim, plus it tastes great and goes well with these flavors. Lastly, add a fresh apple slice to the rim of the glass to complete this festive cocktail!
