This Easy Homemade Caramel Sauce is so rich, creamy and delicious! You’ll want to drizzle it on everything! Apples, ice cream, pie, etc!
Where did the time go! It’s September already! However, fall is one of my favorite times of year! I’m ready for it and love everything about it! Soccer and football games, beautiful foliage, apples, pumpkins, Halloween and all the delicious flavors and foods that fall brings.
When I think of fall, one of the first things that comes to my mind is making a trip to Barden Family Orchard, in North Scituate, Rhode Island. We love this orchard and have been picking our own apples for the past 15 years! Some of my favorite kinds are McIntosh, Macoun, Empire and Cortland. Each have their own distinct flavor and tartness. Some are great for baking and some are great for eating!
This year, in addition to some classics The Best Apple Crisp and Quick & Easy Apple Sauce, I made this Easy Caramel Sauce and I am going to use it on everything! This caramel sauce has a creamy, rich flavor and can be drizzled on everything! Apples, pies, ice cream, cupcakes, breads, crisps, etc. The possibilities are endless!
Only a few simple ingredients and in less than 20 minutes you will be obsessed too! Are you ready? Let’s get started…

How to make this Easy Homemade Caramel Sauce
First, in a small sauce pan over low heat, combine heavy whipping cream and vanilla. Heat until just warm, then remove from heat and set aside.
In a large fry pan, over medium heat, combine sugar and water. Stir together.
Contine to cook without stirring until the sugar starts to turn amber. About 10-12 minutes.
It’s getting close at this point and it’s going to move quickly so keep a close eye on it!
Give it a little stir!
Once it turns amber, add heavy whipping cream (a little at a time) and whisk until mixture is smooth about 2-3 minutes.
Remove pan from heat. Whisk in butter and salt until incorporated.
Let cool for about 10-15 minutes before using. The longer you cool it, the thicker it will become.
Pour leftovers into a heat-safe container with a lid. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
To reheat just pop it in the microwave, heat at 20 second intervals and stir. Pour and use!
