Check out Frankenstein’s Margarita! It’s filled with tequila, blue curaçao, lime and pineapple juices to create this festive, green Halloween drink.
My favorite time of year is here and with Halloween just weeks away, what better way to celebrate than to make Frankenstein’s Margarita! To give it Frankenstein’s characteristic look, this margarita is green and rimmed with black and white margarita salt. And since Frankenstein was quite a large monster, this drink is too!
Frankenstein’s Margarita is a deliciously fruity margarita with that traditional sweet and sour flavor profile. The blue curaçao and lime juice gives this margarita its tangy-sour flavor, while the pineapple juice adds a unique and exotic, sweetness and tartness. Tequila, of course, gives it that distinct margarita taste. And lastly, the salted rim enhances and balances out all these delicious flavors. A great combination of salty, sweet, sour, tangy and bitter all in one festive Halloween cocktail.
Add the blue curaçao a little at a time
Not all brands of blue curaçao are created equal. Some have a stronger blue color than others. To create a great green color, measure out 2 ounces of blue curaçao. Add a little of the blue curaçao, stir and repeat until you get the desired green color.
What kind of tequila should I use?
There are two types of tequilas that are traditionally used in a margarita: blanco (aka silver), minimally or un-aged tequila or reposado, a high-proof tequila that is aged in oak for a period of two to twelve months.
According to Liquor.com, the best tequila for margaritas is Roca Patrón Silver that will run you about $40. However, if you are looking for a budget friendly option they suggest Espolòn Blanco at Drizly that is about $17. For the following margarita we used Milagro Silver Tequila that is about $32.
What type of glass should I use?
A large one! I used a stemless, round, 16 oz wine glass. Frank was large and so is his drink!
