This Easy Breezy Hawaiian Smootini, part smoothie and part martini, will whisk you away to the islands and put you in that “hang loose” mood.
Summertime and fruity drinks just go together, like peas and carrots, or whatever Forrest Gump used to say. Our kids love smoothies for breakfast, especially in the summer, when there are so many fresh fruits available. So as I was mixing up a delicious pineapple smoothie one morning a brilliant thought came to mind. Why not add alcohol, and bingo fresh fruit martini!
Inspired by the pineapple, I went to work. What goes better with pineapple than coconut? Add in a banana for that creamy smoothie texture, and some vodka and you’ll be instantly on the beach in Maui.
Here are a few tips for making Smootini’s
- Use a good blender. If you are going to be making a lot of smootini’s or other things that require a blender then invest in a good one. They are worth the money! The better blenders are more durable and hold up much better, especially when blending frozen fruits. Many of them are designed to fold the ingredients back into the center, making for a smoother and faster blend.
- Use a banana in your smootini. Using a banana adds the sweet flavor to your smoothie. It is also the perfect base that helps to make your drink creamy and delicious!
- If you want more of a frozen drink, just freeze the fruit before blending. It will give you the frozen drink effect without watering down the drink with ice.
