Easy Prosecco Punch

Easy Prosecco Punch

Light, crisp, fruity and refreshing! This Easy Prosecco Punch is a simple, sophisticated and pretty drink that is great for any celebration!

Sprite, raspberry lemonade, Prosecco, fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries

The ingredients for this Easy Prosecco Punch is a 1:1:1 ratio of Sprite, raspberry lemonade and Prosecco. For best results, make sure that all your ingredients are cold. In addition, you can freeze the fruit beforehand. Frozen fruit will help to keep your punch cold while infusing delicious flavors. My fruit of choice are raspberries, strawberries and blueberries. I like this combo for a few reasons. First, I like the taste of all three. Second, they freeze well. Third, they bring lots of color to the punch!

If you are making one glass, it’s just 1/2 cup of each of the three ingredients. However, if you are making it for many people, fill a large punch bowl with equal parts of each. Forgot about the kids? They can enjoy it too! Just eliminate the Prosecco and add equal parts of raspberry lemonade to Sprite. Don’t forget about the fruit, it’s the best part!

Quick facts about Prosecco

Prosecco comes from Northeast Italy. It is a white wine named after the village of Prosecco in which it originated. While most Prosecco is frizzante (fizzy) or spumante (fully sparkling) the are some still (no bubbles) wines made. The level of CO2 in the wine determines whether it is still, frizzante or spumante. Prosecco is crisp, fizzy, and has a sweet flavor to it, thus making it great to drink alone or in a punch.

What are the key differences between Prosecco and Champagne?

Well lucky for us the key difference is the process for getting the CO2 into the wine. Basically, for Champagne, the second fermentation takes place in each bottle. However, for Prosecco, the second fermentation takes place in a large tank. Ultimately, what does this means for you and me? Well, Prosecco can be made faster, less labor intensive and cheaper than Champagne. Which makes Prosecco affordable for any occasion or for no reason at all, just enjoy it.

If you are saying to yourself, “so Prosecco is just cheap Champagne” pump the brakes. It all comes down to the grape. The Glera grape has a thin skin and has a natural perfume and freshness. The tank method of second fermentation preserves these characteristics of the grape and make a beautiful wine. The traditional method used for the Champagne alters the flavors of the Glera grape and lets just say it’s non buono.
