These Homemade Apple Hand Pies are fun to eat! Flaky all butter crust, homemade apple sauce filling, topped off with sweet vanilla frosting make these treats irresistible!
My family and I just went apple picking over the weekend and we got two huge bags of my favorite apples. Macoun, Macintosh and Cortland. With all these apples around, I made two huge batches of applesauce and The Best Apple Crisp. I like to make applesauce and freeze it, so on those busy nights all I need to do is take one out of the freezer and reheat it. It makes a great side and goes well with pork or chicken.
Another reason why I love to have applesauce on hand, is because I like to make these apple hand pies for my kids. They are fun to eat, easy to eat on the go, and make a great snack. In addition, we love to eat them for dessert. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you’ve got yourself a piece of apple pie heaven!
To make these even easier and less time consuming, use a store bought pie crust, apple pie filling or your favorite applesauce. However, if you are wanting to go completely homemade here, check out my Simple All Butter Pie Crust and Quick & Easy Homemade Applesauce. I used both of them to make these Homemade Apple Hand Pies shown.
