These No-Bake Orange Creamsicle Bars are filled with fresh squeezed orange juice, orange zest and homemade whipped cream. This refreshing frozen treat is perfect for summer!
When I was a kid, my mom used to buy my brothers and me orange popsicles filled with vanilla ice cream. It’s been way too many years to remember the brand name and exactly what they were called. However, these No-Bake Orange Creamsicle bars remind me of them. After hours of playing outside in the summer heat, we’d come home begging for a popsicle. One bite and you’d get that orange popsicle coating followed by creamy vanilla ice cream. So delicious! Within a few minutes, it was gone!
The other day my daughter was begging me to make something with the fresh oranges I had bought at the store and immediately these bars came to mind. A great, easy, no bake, frozen treat!
What’s the Difference between the Creamsicle and the Dreamsicle?
The two terms are often used interchangeably because there is a very slight difference between the two. The Creamsicle is made with ice cream and the Dreamsicle is made with ice milk.
History of the Creamsicle
According to the History Channel’s, “The Food that Built America” season 2, episode 11, “Ice Cream Empires”, the “Eppsicle” was accidentally invented by Frank Epperson when he was 11 years old in 1905. As the story goes, after being called in for dinner, Frank leaves his juice on his front step. The next day, he finds that it had frozen with the straw in the center. Curious, he pulls out the frozen juice and takes a lick. Thus, the beginning of the frozen ice cream on a stick that would eventually become a 4.6 billion dollar industry.
