This Simple Buffalo Chicken Dip is creamy, spicy and cheesy blended all together making it a great game day snack or perfect comfort food!
If you are tailgating or have people over to watch a game, this is a must for your spread. Technically, it’s not a game day spread if you don’t have something Buffalo flavored to offer.
Whenever we have rotisserie chicken, I always freeze the leftovers just so I have some chicken ready to go on a moments notice for this Buffalo Chicken Dip. I also like using a combination of light and dark meat which gives it great flavor. If you are cooking your own chicken, you will need about 3/4 lb. of chicken. Cook the chicken in the crock pot, bake it in the oven or grilled it. Once the chicken has cooled, shred or chop it up, I prefer to shred it.
What ingredients are used in this dip?
Just 7 ingredients are used to make this dip. Cooked chicken, cream cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, blue cheese crumbles, ranch dressing, hot sauce and some green onions. That’s it!
How do I make Buffalo Chicken Dip?
It’s really easy! Just mix all the ingredients together, pour into a baking dish and bake until hot and bubbly.
What kind of chicken should I use?
I prefer to use rotisserie chicken because it’s already cooked and saves a lot of time. You can cook any chicken pieces to use. It takes about 3/4 lb. of chicken to get the 2 cups needed for the recipe. You can even used canned chicken if desired.
How should I serve this Buffalo Chicken Dip?
The great thing about this dip is that you can pretty much serve it with anything that makes a great dipper. Use a variety of vegetables like celery, carrots and even bell peppers. Taco chips, crackers, pita chips and baguettes also work great with this dip. There’s no wrong way to serve it. Be creative and let us know what your favorites are.
How do I make the dip thicker?
We like the consistency of this Buffalo Chicken Dip, but if you like it thicker, just add additional cream cheese. This will thicken up the dip but still maintain the creaminess.
How long does the dip keep?
Refrigerate leftovers for about 3-4 days. Although, in our house it never lasts that long!
Can I freeze this dip?
Absolutely! Once cooled, cover the dip tightly with heavy duty aluminum foil and place in the freezer for up to 3 months. Remove from the freezer, thaw and heat. Serve and enjoy!
