Flat Iron Steak on Plate

Grilled Flat Iron Steak

If you have never tried grilled flat iron steak, stop what you are doing and go find it now. You will love this cut of beef because it is so tender, well marbled and flavorful. It is also less expensive than most steaks. It can be the star of you dinner or the perfect addition to a salad. We love to use any leftovers for quesadillas the next day. The flat iron steak really is a versatile cut of beef.

Flat Iron on Grill

When you have a great cut of beef you have one job, which is not to screw it up. So all you need is salt, pepper, olive oil & a grill.

Grilled Flat Iron Steak-Instructions

Make sure you take the meat out of the refrigerator 30 minutes prior to cooking. I like to season it just before I put it on the grill. Just sprinkle it with salt & pepper then drizzle a little olive oil on it. Make sure to season both sides, because you eat both sides. I usually use a gas grill for this because of the convenience, but a charcoal grill or grill pan will definitely work as well.

Flat Iron with Salt and Pepper

I like to slice mine in thin strips and figure about 6 oz. per person, but you will need to judge based on how much your party needs. This should take 10 minutes on the grill for a nice medium rare cook, if you like it more well done, don’t worry just go longer it will still be tender and delicious. Check out my grilled vegetable recipe as a great side. Let us know how your first grilled flat iron steak was.
