Many years ago, my roommates and I hosted a huge Christmas party. This was one of the appetizers I served and my guests LOVED them! I first tasted this delicious appetizer at BJs, of all places. While I was there shopping for the party, a woman was passing them out. I usually pass on these freebies, but today for some reason, I thought sure, why not! As soon as it hit my lips, I knew that this was something I needed to serve at the party.
The woman pointed me to the frozen section and advised me to grab a bag of the frozen, cooked, Sweedish meatballs and then handed me a jar of the Veri Veri Teriyaki Sauce. She told me to put the frozen meatballs in the crockpot, cover them with the sauce and turn it on. That’s it! I was instantly sold! One of the best, easiest and most delicious meatball appetizers ever!
What Kinds of Meatballs Should I Use?
You can definitely use homemade meatballs, however, frozen ones save you tons of time and work well in this recipe. I like the Swedish or bite sized meatballs because they are much easier to serve as an appetizer. However, feel free to use the bigger ones if you so desire. Here are a few options for this recipe:
- Wellsley Farms Sweedish-Style Meatballs (Bj’s)
- Wellsley Farms Angus, or Turkey Meatballs (Bj’s)
- Farm Rich Homestyle Meatballs (Shaw’s)
- Good & Gather Beef Meatballs (Target)
- Cooked Perfect Homestyle, or Sweedish Meatballs Bite Sized (Target and Stop & Shop)
- Johnsonville Homestyle Meatballs (Walmart, Target, local grocery stores)
Where Can I Find Veri Veri Teriyaki Sauce?
- Bj’s
- Target
- Walmart
- Shaw’s
- Amazon
- Sam’s Club
- Kroger
How long does it take to make these Veri Veri Teriyaki Crockpot Meatballs?
Since the meatballs are already cooked, it only takes about 2-3 hours in the crockpot on high and about 4-5 hours on low. What’s great about these meatballs is that they will keep for many hours on warm/low, so your guests can enjoy them all night!
